I&P Ecosystems, the learning and advisory arm of Investisseurs & Partenaires, is teaming up with FrontEnd Ventures to develop an LP Conversion Funnel that will help African limited partners move from interest to commitments in emerging SME and VC funds.
Project
The project is developing an investment thesis, transaction support and hands-on capacity-building to move a small cohort of LPs from interest to investment in African SME and VC funds. It will turn those lessons into a roadmap and public learning document for wider dissemination.
Value and Outcomes
The project aims to unlock more capital for underfunded African fund managers. It is designed to address a missing link in the mobilization of catalytic capital—namely, the deal-level support that can help convert interested institutional LPs into active investors. It seeks to mobilize concessional, patient capital from the most catalytic LPs while also encouraging commercially oriented investors to participate alongside capital that has anchored or de-risked funds.
I&P Ecosystems is focusing on sub-$100 million first- and second-time African fund managers—a segment where catalytic capital is most needed, especially as public sector support for emerging managers is diminishing. The project is also focused on replicability, designing an open-source resource that can be used by other education and mobilization initiatives across the ecosystem.
